This is quickly turning into a "Favorite Christmas and Seasonal songs" thread.
I am totally on board for that. Dean Martin is particularly wonderful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4NlR5KQLQ8 |

Oops ... from your post I thought that it was another Dean Martin song, so I didn't click it !
I've solved that problem with a mini plastic christmas tree in a flower pot !
Lasts for ages, no real decoration needed

you gotta be kidding me rofl! Not sure the result are optimal lol !
Well a coupel of years ago I bought a very nice huge artificial one with lights included....then I got a cat....she absolutely loved thta tree she coudl sneak in and sleep on the branches they were wide enough and solid enough for her to do that she also broke a few ornaments sigh.
But now it seems they are building tallk 'slim' trees that she might not be able to get in I will have to go and take a look. Just too bad there is no door to the living room.
Oh well...

Ahahah yes, I would have loved to see the cat on a christmas tree jingle :p
But honestly, I am not kidding you, my christmas tree is about 35cm high and yes it is optimal because (a) it takes twenty minutes to unpack and decorate and (b) think of how small the presents must be to fit under it !
Personally I am really fed up with christmas due to all that marketing storm every single year (they start the christmas carols from early november for crying out loud so when the real celebration comes, you feel nothing festive about it ! I have taken out the capital c from the celebration for that reason), so I put a small tree and try to find the small pleasures in life instead of juggling with the 12 pains of christmas (none of them apply to me anymore
).
Besides, shouldn't good company, good food and good health be the best presents one could have for a celebration, without the addition of lots of anxiety .?.

LOl well doing the christmas tree EXCEPT for the light as always been a pleasure and a tradition so a plastic tree would have me a bit depressed.
Oh I entirely agree on the damn boorish christmas song from the end of halloween till new year its a bit too much but honestly apart of that I dont pay much attention.
In my family we believe strongly in USEFUL gift and NOT ruining ourself for them. So while it takes me a lot of time to hunt down something each person would like, I do and they appreciate this.
I also usually buy all year long for christmas ;) far far less stressing that way.
No cards for me I got no car so no parking pain for me either and I do fill up a bag of stuff and I give it to the charities and that pain is done with. (so down to what ? 9 pains lol ?)
Completely agree good food (we always have that!) and good company (well when I have christmas off work) is the important thing.
As for health I was in hospital a christmas not so long ago....you dont want to be there especially not at that time, so I try not to be sick in december lol
Anyway my family isnt big on trying to calculate the 'worth' of what I buy them (lucky me I guess ?) and neither am I so some christmas boxes are sometimes bigger sometimes smaller but everyone is nearly always pleased with everything they have and I am never broke.
I'll never understand people who spent insane amount of money to get huge gift. I really couldnt live with the credit card filled up to the top for 6 months!
Edited the ugly typos
