OK, I'm happy to add to the chronicles of this war. Sounds fair.
The context of my actions is given in a letter which I wrote to AA, which I've posted on my profile, just to make this clear. (Briefly: I have already said that I will not be attacking any Champs players in the north, nor any PA except their leaders. The PA leaders have been baying for blood for a while, and were quite happy to Blight me when they were trying to provoke this war, so I have every reason to see them as a threat. I will happily destroy their troops etc. so that they cannot threaten me or anyone else; I have no desire to see anyone lose cities, so am not considering sending sieges.)

I'm losing troops that I can afford to lose trying to whittle away at this, but as I don't have a snowball's chance of defeating a combined H? army myself, I rather hope that others are pitching in, too. Battle reports don't include enemy figures when an army is that badly outclassed, so I have no idea what I'm killing, though I have got some good XP out of this so far.
Weakening the PA leaders: a couple of blockades, a few hundred troops killed. All very minor. Skirmishing on the fringes of the war.

I'd like to take this opportunity to remind players that there is a little-used, but very useful sharable XML dump of combat reports received on either side of a combat.
When you open your combat report email, at the very bottom there's an XML icon in Orange.
Example of your Mailed Combat Report
The Orange XML link on the screenshot directly above links to an XML combat report. Reading an XML document is reasonably straightforward and we've tried to make the tags as explanatory as possible. I believe some players may have created cut'n'pastable XML combat report parsers.
Here's the link for the Combat Report above so you can have a look at one, and if you compare it to the mail above, you'll be able to see how it represents the outcome.
For a more complete explanation of the XML Combat reports,
please see this forum post.
The XML report itself is server generated, using a unique encrypted key - and contains the absolute, total and utter "truthiness" of the combat from the perspective of the player that posted it. ie, it is an accurate representation of the combat forces involved and outcome, according to what your mail says.
Sharing these XML combat links only shares that single combat report - it does not confer any access to other combat reports by yourself or any other players; just the single combat report you choose to share. Sharing a unique XML combat report URL *does* make that particular combat report publicly accessible to anyone the URL is shared with, in perpetuity.
In short, if you want to provide a 100% accurate combat report and also verify that it is what you received, post the XML link contained in the emailed combat report as well.
I'm highlighting this system simply because I do think it it's under-used - but rather useful.

Eh, the reports contain like 5 different XML links..... Sorry GM SC, its easier to just paste the report. Valar isn't hiding anything so I haven't bothered to edit them: beside they are enemy troops mostly, not ours. It's also just simpler to read anyway. Hope it doesn't seem like I am spamming your forums, I know the list's are long..... |
