Just to give you a sneak peek into what I am HOPING will be the future of VALAR...
To briefly describe the imagined "vision" of the council, how it might look EVENTUALLY (hopefully sooner rather than later): * 5 (or more) people with equal and (almost?) complete power (on par with former alliance leader) * a couple of advisors with far less (or even barely any) actual power, but of high standing * they will mainly use a "council and advisors only" subforum to communicate, exchange ideas, propose actions and vote on them * every important action will need a 3+ vote from the 5 (or 6) councilors (or 4+ vote from the 7-8 councilors, etc) to be enacted lawfully, but each councilor can make use of "emergency powers" to do whatever they please if needed (then face the consequences in case what they did was wrong) * councilors may step down at any time after a certain minimal "term of service" (to be determined) or may be removed as per the consequences clause above or due to inactivity, but preferrably, only one at a time ; nominations and self-nominations for new councilors will be collected, the remaining council members will vote yes/no on any nominees (they must vote yes to at least half), then public elections will be held for the (remaining) vetted nominees

Sounds like you're making great progress Cristina. Thank you for your openness throughout this process.
Best wishes to the new Valar leaders!

I like the diplomatic approach that this alliance is heading towards. It is too bad that every alliance in the coalition which took down Valar, is not so diplomatic with their leaders. The only exception would be the Crow alliances that have 3 leaders instead of one. To my knowledge, none of these leaders were elected, but were more or less appointed to be leaders.
Dlords, Curse, H?, Champs, PA, mCrow and I am sure there are more have had the same leader since day one. Is that very diplomatic like? I think not.
I feel every alliance should have some type of leader elections with a council to decide on things much like what cristina has mentioned.
I think a leader should only stay in power for 3 months or even 6 months. That is if an alliance goes the one leader route with a council.
If an alliance goes the Crow route and has 3 or 5 leaders (5 leaders is too many in my opinion). These leaders should be elected maybe every year or 6 months by the members. And the leaders will take turns being the leader throughout the year.
There should always be a council. A council that is elected by the members also.
I would recommend a 3 leader format that has elections every 6 months. Also there should be a 6 member council elected every 6 months. An advisor would be a waste in my opinion since there are 9 players in high positions already. Maybe a council member can choose an assistant for them to be their advisor on matters if that is really needed.
An emergency decision by the 3 leaders would be allowed and the leader making the decision can lose the position and get kicked out if it was indeed a bad one.
I have a hard time seeing players like Iduna, Killerpoodle, Amroth, Lorre, Belargyle, and ScottFitz agreeing to do this for their alliance. They do not want to lose their power within their respected alliance.
The biggest obstacle to these diplomatic proceedings is having enough active players to hold elections and having leaders that are active. A problem that most alliances have at the moment.

dude, its Dwarven
Lords Belargyle is The High King.
now, we are not the Dwarven Repubblic or something like that, we hold no elections.
and if people dont like the Freaking alliance structure, then they dont have to join in the first place...
the coalition demanded a change in leadership in VELAR to give the ally a chance of redemption and to change their old ways.
now, the change came from inside velar and this is proof of the great will of its member to keep their ally name alive. kudos to the Velars for this.

You sound like an absolute tit mate, mCrow are happy with who we have in charge and we all have a say in what goes on, it's probably the same in every other alliance you mentioned. No body cares about what your opinion is because it gets twisted in with the herpy derp about bashing on all the other alliances.
Find a way to be constructive and stop being such a pompous arrogant arse.
and that is the truth.

@Truth.
You really dont have a clue what occurs within the hierachichial structure of the major alliances.
But you know what? Neither do I.
Its okay to have an opinion but you get yourself into trouble when you start making judgements upon others. Judgements which fall down very quickly as its apparent they're based on nothing more than your (oft misguided) opinion.
Your democratic concept may well work for you and I encourage its exploration. But please don't presume you know whats best for everyone else as well eh?

I agree that opinions are hard for some people to swallow when they differ from their point of view. However, since I did not have any intentional personal insults, there should be no harm done. Every person is different and I am sure has a different out look on life and how to run an alliance in this game.
The thing is, I do not like to see leaders overcome with power. I believe in equality. Every player in this game is equal in my eyes. Every player that plays this game deserves the right to have an opinion on things as long as there are no personal insults and they present things intelligently more or less.
I believe when posting or chatting in an online format, a person must chat or post as if that person they are chatting with are right in front of them. Too many players become a bit too rude when they are on an online format which thus leads to bully behavior that I dislike.
Your opinion is respected and I hope that you understand my point of view on matters a bit better.
