I think spears will fare no better than ranged to be honest with these spooks... spear defence is very weak to those ranged units, particularly with the spear defence penalty on plains.
I think these new units will be all-round tough opponents, particularly if these new special moves are any good - good job they are all worth quite a bit of experience. |
Spears will definitely fare better, there is no penalty for a spearman DEFENDING on plains that I am aware of, there is however a bonus for Cav ATTACKING on plains. Since Cav units get a bonus regardless of who is defending, it makes sense to mix in some spearunits due to their better stats against cavalry. This is of course more important in the lower leagues where every troop counts.
The real question will be, what's a good number to throw in there? 25%? Since most attacks will still be zombies and skellies? Be interesting to see.

"Curse of Mortification" makes you look like Brendan Frasier.

Has anyone actually seen the moumiyas successfully cast a spell yet? What does it do? Should I be glad I haven't seen it? ^^

I still haven't seen the moumiyas be successful, Createure. If I were a conspiracy theorist, I'd say the devs had given up on "balancing" the mummy magic and just made it fail every time. Which suggests that it's ... pretty horrible.
