I don't see how your coming to that conclusion. Prestige has been around for years, all they've added is just another option to spend it on, and medals don't give any more advantages over a f2p account. It is another way for the devs to make money but I'm sure the servers arnt free and they're not forcing you to pay.
As usual I'm glad to see the devs are still actively working on illy and can't wait to see what coming in the future. |
How did I come to that conclusion? there is now an item that can only be bought with prestige. You name any other item that is in game that can be obtained like this pls

No other item but Luna did say there will be ways to get medals for free. Medals that cannot be made on the game. Well they are thinking of it but still that to me is a plus side. Also think of it this way; all it takes is 50 people giving up 2 days worth of free prestige and your alliance can have a medal. If you play smart and have loyal members, you can be swimming in prestige.
Have an alliance run tournament where everyone donates 5 prestige (weeks worth for most people) and the winner gets 10% of the prestige and the rest goes to a medal. So many different creative ways to get the prestige you need for your alliance to create medals.
Please stop looking at this as one person spending £4.99 and look at the alliance working together to gain your objective.

Agreed Quackers. And keep in mind that players can receive up to 365 FREE prestige per year (that is if they are crazy enough to be on every day and click immediately after the 24hour delay expires. more realistically, 300 Free a year). But if one medal costs 300 and they are spending their prestige on in game advancements, most likely players would donate about 30 prestige a year.

Yes your post made me fully understand how ridiculously priced these are. I understand about the hard work, the time, the little server space, and money wanted to do other things.. but this just seems out there. Either looks like they are being greedy, needing money to feed their business/goals, or just don't fully understand economics. (The people that spend real money on a a fake virtual medal really does not understand economics.)

After watching the video a second time I am even more sure that GM Luna said medals will be purchased using "Alliance Prestige." As if this wil be a new function for prestige (donating to the alliance pool of prestige.)
Something I still didn't catch though: When you purchase the design of a medal, is it available to give to everyone and anyone in your alliance, or do you purchase a single medal to give to a single player?

Once the medal is designed and purchased it can be given to anyone/everyone in your alliance. So you could design something for one person or something that could be given to everyone.

What I got was you made a medal, purchased it, then it cost 50 prestige to give it out to a player (or yourself). You can then give out that medal as many times as you want for an additional 50 prestige for each player.

In the video @ 21:10 it very clearly states that each time the medal is awarded to a player it costs 50 prestige, the design cost is a one time fee , but the award is not. This was said by GM Luna and needs to be explained as it is opposite of what was posted above.

Not related to medals, but I notice the time for me to get my daily gift has shifted by about 4 hours. I know I wasn't doing it that late last night, I was sawing logs.
