Topic: Trader gone after trying to send to a faction hub Posted: 29 Dec 2012 at 03:37 |
I have entered a petition already. Just wondering if other peeps have had this issue. Or is it suppose to happen?
I tried sending a Trader to a faction hub that wouldn't accept it. I guess my standing is too low.

I have heard others say that they lost a trader after sending to a hub where their standing was too low.

Excellent; I've got 2 useless traders I've been moving to numerous local hubs that have nothing worthwhile to offer. Now I know how to get rid of them. Please don't change this

Why don't you make offer to buy something cheaper than the price at centrum then ship it there to sell.

I don't think anyone would fill a buy order at a local hub if the offer price is lower than Centrum; they'll fill the order at Centrum and get the higher price. And placing a buy order with an offer price higher than Centrum is a money-loser; I can just place the order in Centrum and match the best offer price there. Sell orders at local hubs also tend to be counterproductive; most people are trying to sell at higher prices than Centrum, so it's unlikely their orders will be filled.

Did you research faction markets? I know of several players who lost their traders because they didn't research faction markets.

That sounds like an epic violation of the principle of least surprise. If sending a trader to a Hub can't possibly work, the UI should indicate this at the point where it's attempted, or simply not offer the option of doing it. If the user does it anyway, the trader should turn round, on reaching the Hub that doesn't welcome him, and come home; or, failing that, the user should get an IGM or a (military) notification saying the Hub's rulers killed the trader on arrival, just like when scouts fail or harvesters run into unfriendly occupiers. All of these would be less surprising than silently letting the user send a trader who'll then silently vanish for no apparent reason.

Thank you for the info folks.
I can confirm that if you send a trader to a faction hub you have a low standing with you will loose your trader. You will receive an error message telling you that your standing with the faction is too low to trade there. They don't mention that your trader has been slaughtered though.
