Topic: Tournament Victory CalculatorPosted: 06 Jan 2011 at 01:49 |

I'm feeling generous so I'm going to open this up for anyone to use, not just my alliance:
PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS OR YOU WILL BREAK THE CALC AND I WON'T SHARE A CLEAN COPY WITH YOU - there's only about 10 words of instruction in the sheet so read them. https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=tUXKN2W3p2w5adqdsDWoL2Q This calculator works out the REAL victory percentage for each guild in the tournament (but NOT individual flags currently). You only need to copy the info from the herald tournament summary and paste it into cell A2 and the calculation will automatically run for you, don't change anything else. At the moment the herald victory in-game calculation works out an ABSOLUTE victory percentage for each alliance based on a 50% absolute possession requirement (15.5 days in total) for both individual flags and for the whole tournament (15.5 days mutiplied by 8 flags). This calculation is correct for any flag with only 1 or 2 alliances owning possession time but this becomes incorrect as soon as you have 3 or more alliances fighting for possession, and for the whole tournament. N.B. At the moment the absolute in-game victory percentages and the real calculator victory percentages are quite similar because the tournament is still quite young... you will start to notice a much bigger difference as the tournament goes on. Enjoy. p.s. I've also added a check that will highlight alliances that cannot obtain victory as the tournament goes on. p.p.s. If you want to edit/change/improve this calculator please do it in a clean sheet, and please share it with me when you're done. ^^ Edited by Createure - 08 Jan 2011 at 14:51 |

eek
I it's not showing correct values, I should probably fix that
Oh, and yes I'm looking into fixing -500|-500 as well; I gather it's running off of the original occupation time (6pmish 31DEC10) rather than the actual tournament start of midnight on 01JAN11. Thanks for pointing this out, createure - much appreciated. SC |

-Added elapsed tournament time and check for tournament completion.
-Added a check for total elapsed UNPOSSESSION time across all flags (currently standing at about 2-3 possession days). -Incorporated unpossession time into real victory calculation to give a more accurate indicatior for victory conditions. |

-Added 2nd and 3rd place %age and possession day requirements included checks to notify when alliances can no longer achieve these conditions as the tournament progresses.
-Changed the layout to make it slightly easier to see what's going on. I hope these changes make this calc alot more interesting/useful to alliances that aren't even considering 1st place but think they got a shot at 2nd or 3rd (and some of those elusive elite praetorians )
Again please bear in mind that the tourny is still quite young so the calc doesn't really show anything too exciting right now, it will get better the more elapsed time there is though so check back. ^^ It does show some interesting info already though... for example: - H? currently needs a MAXIMUM of 34.83 extra possession days to gain a GUARANTEED WORST-CASE 3rd place. - Any alliance with no entry on the leaderboard or low-possession could still theoretically win the tournament if they managed to secure 56% of the total remaining possession time.
