I'm guessing that is shock at my statment regarding 100% health...
If your Cmdr has a battle at 100% and loses 25% health. Now he is at 75%. And lets say his health is now 75/100
In his next battle, again he loses 25% health...This time it is 75 health x 25% = 18.75...so 19 points lost ...remaining health = 56.
As long as he wins the battle, no matter his starting health, he will survive (excepting Defy Death randomness).
Battle 1 (16% damage)
| Commander: Yeoman
|
Yeoman
|
1
|
Damaged for 16, 84 health remains.
|
2nd battle less than 1 hour later (8% Damage):
| Commander: Yeoman
|
Yeoman
|
1
|
Damaged for 7, 81 health remains.

Good commanders. They have a HUGE effect on the outcome of battles.

I don't think that Fluffy's outcome was heavily influenced by commanders. First off, Fluffy was on attack with T2 Cav leading T1 swords. So leader divisional attack bonuses were not applicable.
Also, Fluffy attack with 662 units vs. 1926 units. Roughly a 1:3 ratio which he just eeked out a win with. But this ratio of 1:3 is about what I experience when I attacked NPC's. So I think this outcome was predicitable to be close as it was.

As I understand Divisional Attack Bonuses are only applied to the same unit type as the Cmdr. So your Runerider Cmdrs would only apply Divisional Attack bonuses to Cav units under thier command. The Axemen would receive no Divisional Attack bonus from the Runerider Cmdrs.

why would there be divisional attack bonuses for other unit types then? If an axemen couldn't recieve a bonus from a runerider commander, why would that skill even be available then?

Those Attack bonuses are telling what type of Defending Unit the bonus applies to. So a Runerider with Division Sword Attack bonus will apply that bonus to his division's Runeriders attacking Sword units.
