Is it really necessary to use disagreeable terms to describe each side? Aggressor, bully, conspirators, pile on, warmonger. Both parties in this war have acknowledged that the central Broken Lands are valuable to their respective alliance strategies. Whoever controls the Newlands and adjacent regions will be a major force in all future wars and tournament outcomes. Trivium and its allies sought to establish control of the region through a land claim, Shark intentionally thwarted that claim, and now their conflict is continuing. Other alliances like Invictus are trying to sway the outcome in their own favor. There is nothing especially surprising about any of this.

The interplay of lands and adversaries is the central theme of the sandbox. They are all playing the game of empires as it is meant to be played. I realize that the forum meta-game is part of the sandbox, but it is tiresome that all significant conflicts in this game must devolve into trollish name calling on the forums and in general chat. There is nothing wrong with treating your opponents with respect in a game, even if you are at strategic odds. Civility amid duress is the very definition of sportsmanship.

Maybe we could just observe the war with competitive enthusiasm, minus the disagreeable terms and sad violins.

How exactly are facts disagreeable terms ? They are very much aggressors, invaders by the very definition of the words.

Had they wanted to be viewed in a more positive light than that's the path they should have taken.
