Topic: Settlers page Posted: 08 Mar 2012 at 13:03 |

Not sure if this belongs here, but on the settlers page where you build and send settlers, there's a line "Settlers already settling from any city in your empire" . It should be pretty self-explanatory. The thing is, this line only shows a value at the city where settlers are dispatched, while from other cities, it just shows a 0. So, is this a bug, or am I mistaking what the line implies?

Very interesting.... I wonder also why settlers appear as diplomats on the main page.... Every time I think I am looking at a forgotten about mission when in fact its just my little settler wandering across the map. Should this just be left as a progress bar in the settlers page (like exodus)?

Well how often does this come up anyway? Seems like an extremely minor issue. It's probably just unnecessarily difficult to keep all your cities displaying each other's settlers.

Yes, I agree that this is a minor issue. But still, I feel that it is a bug, and thus should be brought to the developers' notice. I'm just picky about stuff like that :D.

The max button doesn't work on that screen either but it too is another really minor thing.

I think it's better that the max button doesn't work for settlers. One could accidentally build 1200 settlers or something like that. Probably better to just enter a number.

Thanks for the idea, Rill!
I can think of no better use
for 96,000 horses than to
expand my territory.
4 days per settler, plus
an additional settler per
new city... it doesn't go
very far, very fast, so
I suppose it's a good thing
I started making horses
a.long.time.ago.
Not to fret, I'm not really
going to flood the continent
with new towns, but it sure is
a fascinating thought.
Of course, Illyriad will only
allow us to breed 10,00 horses
at a time, without Prestige.

scorpivs, actually you can enter any number you want in the box; the "max" of 10,000 is not really the max; if you enter 25,000 in the box, it will build 25,000 (assuming you have the resources). I don't tend to do that; 10,000 of anything at one time is usually as many as I want to make. The max available is now shown greyed out in the box, which sort of makes the max button unnecessary, but I still like it.

I'm no fan of the
max button, after an unintended test with about 5K books. And months ago I've heard of a case where somebody built some thousands of unplanned chain mail, which should be ready now -- just in time to get a free blacksmith queue for crafting.
OTOH I very often want to add or remove
all available units of a given type, where an error would be no big issue. It would be very nice if they replace the dangerous
max (production) by a harmless
all (assignment) button.
