Get rid of inactives, that is already being done at a quite satisfactory rate
get rid of baby-sat accounts, that is something that needs to be addressed and the Devs are working on it
Reset Illy, that suggestion is pure lunacy and would kill Illy

I would think that the main issue behind the proposal of reseting illyriad would be the feeling that a wide variety of alliances wield the control over the way the masses act in illyriad, this of course is true and anyone would be foolish to disagree.

Why just today there was much hubbub about a 180ish pop *newb* fighting a 58ish pop *newb*, when asked to stop the 180ish said "It's a war game in IGM", this caused some established players *10k + population* to publicly talk about giving the 180ish pop *newb* a incentive to think differently, more specifically by attacking him.

Now the gesture of this may be well meant, but what is occurring here is a forced pacifism, this kind of behavior by the established players is what causes some newer players to ask for a server re-set. For there must be at least a few hundred players if not a thousand who react this way^, no doubt causing the waves of uncertainty to newer players.

Are you being repressed?

Could this be an issue because players don't want a potentially aggressive player growing cities right beside them?  Perhaps long-term reasoning is saying that these players will get bigger and bigger.  Should we be cautious of warring newbs that may pose a future risk to our own assets, or might we simply convert them from their tendencies towards anger with a few snuggles?

a 180ish pop player can do no real harm, a 210k pop player can
and even Valar couldnt stand against the masses so there isnt a real fear factor of them growing out of controll.

Global Police? What in Illy is that? The notion of Global Police is absurd. There are players who state their opinions, and players are certainly free to act and react to the words and actions of other players, but rules? Absurd.

Subatoi's refererence was not specifically to the written rule nor letter of law rather the wielding (meddling?) of power by those whom politicking is of interest.

It of course exists.

Ironically by definition those that engage in this behavior though indirectly curbing sand-boxing, are indirectly pursuing their own right to sandbox.

Spot on Llyorn! Bravo! Clap very simple but very true statement.

Easy enough at the level you are (size wise and alliance wise.) For most of the rest of "us" not so much.

The size he is now or the size I am now for that matter has nothing to do with it. My brother and I started our alliance when we were about 800 pop apiece. hard work, "a bit of the ole grey matter" to quote Mr. Poirot, and the ability to sort things out when needed is all that counts for the most part.

But I can assure you we did not get here because it was easy then or now. No one is a free entity in Illy able to do as he or she pleases. If a player, no matter how big, displeases the community then it is only a matter of time before they are reined in and usually not softly.

reset, maybe, a new server, without a doubt, 2 years is a long time, what true gamer would want to join such a game, the community here is getting comfortable, settled, this game needs an big influx of new younger players, i suggest a massive facebook advertising campaign with a prestige bonsus incentive to join, change is good, this game is getting pretty stale...good luck devs, u got a choice to make here.......its a hard one, but every successful business has to make it someday

Just wanted to pop in for a moment to address any suggestion that we would reset the Illy server. An actual server wipe or reset, as might happen in other games, is against the core values that the game was built on. Read:  http://www.illyriad.co.uk/GameInformation/Principles

No matter what we do to expand the game, welcome and encourage new players, that will just not be it. If the devs suggested it to me, it would make me go all "giant squid of anger"* on all of our players' behalf. And you don't want GM Luna to turn into a giant squid of anger. ;)

Thank for addressing this Luna.  I feel there is closure at last.  (^_^)  Now on to more important matters....
