A taxi driver goes through a one-way road... (and going the wrong way), along the way, he crosses a policeman who says hello but makes no mention of his going the wrong way, and let's him go... why?

he wasn't in his taxi, just walking...?
or he was reversing?
or he had a woman giving birth in the backseat an needed to get to the hospital quickly?
or it was a corrupt policeman he'd paid off before...?
Could be many reasons I guess. :P
