I opted to buy 500 prestige a few minutes ago, I had 26 pres (or 28) and ended up with 78. I checked my paypal account and was charged for 500. I have the transaction number if it is necessary to clear this up.

PayPal has been doing weird stuff since the Facebook Credits option was removed. I don't know if this is an Illyriad or PayPal thing but whenever I buy prestige with my PayPal, it charges me and everything and it gives me the prestige but the little popup window always crashes before I get the usual confirmation screen. Since I am charged normally and I get my prestige, I figure it is just maybe a browser thing with Chrome.
