Topic: Prestige extension Posted: 09 Dec 2011 at 12:32 |
How does the prestige extension work?
If I don't accept it I'll never be able to use it again?
Where is there a better explanation of the prestige part of the game?

If you extend your prestige account or any prestige thing, at any moment, it will just give you one more week of use per time you exten. For exemple, if you buy a prestige account 3 times at a time, you will have 3 weeks during which you beneficiate of prestige account.
Dont worry if your prestige account or any bonus given by prestige options stops because the duration was consumed, you can buy it again any time you want, but you need first to buy/activate prestige account again

In order to spend prestige you need an active account. An active account provides you with a few benefits (e.g. extra zoom levels on map) but other than that is just a prestige sink. The accepted norm is to only run an active account when you plan on spending a bunch of prestige. Otherwise, let the prestige account expire so you can accumilate enough prestige (40-50) for a binge.
In short, there is no harm in keeping an active account and there is no harm in letting your account expire.

I personally don't know how I survived without the added zoom levels in the old days... I am so hooked now!

Greedy? On the part of Illyriad? Let's see, you can claim 7 prestige per week from the Herald, and it costs 5 prestige per week to keep your account active, yet at the same time there's no requirement to keep an active account and one can keep accumulating free prestige for long periods of time. So not only is the game completely free to play without prestige, but it's possible to accumulate enough free prestige to do some really neat stuff.
I guess the greedy would be people who think that everything should be free ... oh wait, it already is.

That was very...direct.
I've already bought prestige and then I have to 'pay' to use it's features. I can see where Moraki is coming from calling it greedy.
(I'm not arguing the rights or wrongs of it, it's not my game therefore not my rules. I knew the terms before buying and I accepted them. Just felt the other side needing pointing out.)

Sorry, I'm still not seeing the other side. One can maintain an active prestige account for free by claiming free prestige. One is therefore not paying for it. That is the meaning of free.
