Topic: Of Elves & Bows Posted: 08 Nov 2013 at 21:50 |

Hello everyone and welcome to this new post.
I have been meaning to start this post for some time but I was hoping to do so once the war was over, as that now doesn't seem likely to happen any time soon I have decided to just go ahead.
I would like all players to participate in this thread not just Elves, however, I feel that the main discussion points here should be in relation to bows, their various uses, benefits relating to their different types, etc, etc.
Of particular interest to me at the moment is the Three Wood Bow. Although the war has interfered with my herb gathering, I still have a healthy stockpile of Lemonwood Bough. Regrettably I now lack a source of Pale Cedar Wood but don't want protracted and slow purchases which will be limited to the trade hubs where I have traders based. I feel that somebody (possibly an Elf somewhere) with an interest in this type of bow may be in a similar position except they have a source of Pale Cedar Wood. I welcome any such persons to IGM me and we can make suitable arrangements to trade boughs with one another. I am also happy to simply buy Pale Cedar Wood directly from players with surpluses in straight transactions whereby I send you the gold and you bring me the herb.
Another matter I would also like to discuss is the legendary and mysterious Elven Spirit Bow. I must admit, when I finally researched everything in 1 city (a few months ago) I though this would yield the bow, but it did not. Nobody seems none the wiser despite the many personal theories going around - anyone able to shed real light on this matter cause I think I've tried everything sensible/obvious now?
Finally, anyone got real stats relating to different bow types and the damage they can do (under various scenarios) when compared to regular bows?
That's all for now amigos, thanks for taking the time to read this.

Elven Spirit Bow
Ok, I guess most people may already know this by now thanks to the Gypsy Fortune Teller Watch thread, however, attached below is the relevant information specifically relating to the Elven Spirit Bow.
25 Spies were sent on this occasion to the Gypsy's caravan before midnight server time. The relevant city had absolutely all research already completed.
The Spies arrived on 24/11/13 @ 21:57 hrs server time. 4 days and a few hours later an old crone visited the relevant city with a new message (I did not send spies a second time) – the one relating to corrupted tentacles.
Fortune told for your mission from [Relevant City Name]

Your diplomatic mission from [Relevant City Name] arrives at [-505|-266] in Lan Larosh.
The fortune teller's eyes go wide.
"I see you...
And I see your exceedingly skilled crafters.
Wait a moment."
She pauses in meditation, for what seems like hours, before suddenly jerking her head up and looking directly into your spies' eyes.
"You seek to learn the mystery of Elven Spirit Bow.
The next time I am with your kith, I will ask.
It will, however, cost you. Be prepared. I will be in touch."
Your diplomatic mission is heading home, alternately pondering and dismissing these words of wisdom.
An old crone arrives at [Relevant City Name]

Your gatekeepers report that a wizened old woman arrived earlier in the day at [Relevant City Name].
She did not enter the city but instead pressed a note into the hands of the gate officer, saying "Give this to your master. He is expecting it."
She left immediately without further word; shuffling off down the road with surprising speed.
The note reads:
"I have spoken with those whom I mentioned; those who guard the secret ways of Duraz Karag.
They may be willing to share their secret, if you prove yourself worthy.
If you still seek this knowledge then there are three tasks you must complete to prove your worth.
Firstly, you must prove your ability to collect unusual materials.
Procure the following items in the following quantities:
x5
x5
x5
x5
When you have at least these quantities of these items in your town's inventory, send a messenger from [Relevant City Name] to the great hall of Duraz Karag at [-203|-122] in Tor Carrock.
Do not fail in this, for your reputation is at risk."
There is no signature on the note.
Accordingly, I now require 20 tentacles, 5 from each corrupted race.
I have none of these, but am very eager to acquire said tentacles.
If anybody is willing to sell me all or some of the required tentacles I am more than happy to pay for this with vast amounts of gold coins, or perhaps you would like something else – just igm me and we can negotiate.
I hope this thread is of some assistance to others.
Until next time folks.

What do you mean by everything, as in all crafting research including plate?

Yes, absolutely all research had been completed by the city in question. Hope that helps.

Making an elf research plate armor that is unusable to them is a ridiculous requirement for learning a bow recipie :)

And having them collect 5 magical tentacles for each race from the zombie faction isnt?
Besides the bow provides +0% for all biome. Seriously why is the legendary weapon useless for half the map?

Because elves are meant to be temperate forest dwellers! Didn't it say that in your manual? ;)
The Dwarven Champion armor is probably the best item, but it is also limited by requiring Silversteel, Arterium and earth salts.

Good day everyone - This is another Elven Spirit Bow (ESB) Post
I would like to publicly state that it appears Larken Wood is now being hoarded up in anticipation of the ESB discovery.
In anticipation of this probable eventuality I want to invite anybody who has Larken Wood and is happy to trade it away to contact me with an igm so that we can make appropriate arrangements. I will be as competitive and/or generous as possible (I am quite wealthy in Illy - the gold is in a hub so don't everyone send your spies to my cities at once!!).
Come on amigos, you do not need all those bits of Larken Wood lying around, I promise to find them a good home and put them to good use.

@Geofrey
I know that corrupted tentacles are a prerequisite for the ESB discovery as this was revealed by the Gypsy Fortune Teller/Old Crone - this is all explained in my 2nd post above in great detail.
The tentacles are unlikely to be a requirement in the crafting of the ESB, as this is revealed in other links which specify the requirements for the building of the ESB as: 50 mana points, 10 research points, 1 bow, 10 gold, 1 herb and 1 Larken Wood.
Accordingly, as already explained, it would appear that the tentacles are only required in order to make the initial discovery - they are not required for the actual crafting.
I hope this makes sense and is of assistance my friend.
