I just started playing this game close to the beginning of this year. A real life friend told me about it so I decided to look it up and start playing. Of course this friend of mine helped me out substantially in the game. Pretty early on (following some advice of his and other things I've read in these forums) I decided I wanted to join a closely clustered alliance in BL. So I asked in GC about who was out there, and was messaged by Stukahh about SIN and HALO. Sounded good to me, so I hopped aboard.

So here I am now, with 5 cities in Fellandire, and the SIN leadership has decided that I am an alt of this friend of mine, and a spy.  They say they have a "mountain of evidence" which they refuse to share with me. I would assume a lot of it is just from the help that he has provided me.  This friend happens to be in a large alliance who could potentially be a threat to SIN. I keep both my friend and the alliance to myself for now as I have yet to decide whether it is better to name them or not. Perhaps that decision will be taken from me though, but so be it.  They are also telling me to either disband all of my troops and leave their area within 1 month, or to be destroyed.

I try to not be a complainer about things, especially on the internet. But damn, this is some bull crap. From what I've seen of this game I think there are a lot of players who wouldn't really stand for this type of thing. So I would request that those players weigh in on this issue.

Thanks for reading,
King Stag

SIN are very vigorous in the defense of their alliance. Unfortunately that means you cannot have friends in other alliances that disagree with what SIN says and does. It is also unfortunate because i believe you cannot leave them once you join, well not without you loosing all your towns and hard work.
However whilst i don't play that way, they are entitled to play however they like.

PS start finding as many friends as you can, SIN is very thorough.
There's worse blokes than me!!

I do not know the details of your case. But I know SIN.

With all the people/alliances bitching about land claims, I can understand why SIN is wary at the moment. There are a lot of haters carrying years old grudges towards some SINners, and I bet they are looking for a reason to hit them.

On the other hand, my dealings as an alliance leader with them show they are reasonable.  I am sure you will get a reasonable exit strategy. Looking at land, EE in Gremont might be a good option. They are good people. If that is not to your liking, HUGs will happily take you in. Newlands is not far away.

Paranoia is a helluva drug.  Wink

But if you really are a spy, you are welcome to join mCrow. We collect them.

The way I see it you can best take your loss and leave the area. Exodus all your towns. If you can find a new alliance I'm sure they'll help you with it. I don't think you want to live among people who will continue to not trust you and probably make life hard for you. Show your good will and maybe SIN will see they're wrong in the end, if they really are. I can't say I havn't got any doubts about your story. To me it all sounds a lot like how a spy would act, including this forum post.

Another thing you can do is just start a new account. You know you can have 2 right? If you allready have a second account just abandon this one if exodussing is too much effort. Or make best of it and defend yourself to the end. You might learn a lot about military that way, although I think it will be a quick death for you.

spying is a major part of this game and the game functions such as two accounts and sitting function in which anyone from any alliance is able to control an account supports it and makes it easy to do. the thing you have to realize is you got caught and now have to pay. you should have came clean with your leadship right in the beginning and perhaps the tables could have been turned..its a game and in my opinion sin is being nice to you because there is no telling what damage you have done to their alliance...i will also say this to sin alliance...omg...how did you let a spy into your group...tighten up! to the person that got caught, move and regroup and learn a lesson..to your fellow spy omg sounds like there is a double agent in your group!..this situation occurs often in this game...game on!

I'm of the opinion that vital, dynamic alliances should always operate under the assumption there is a spy in the ranks. It just makes sense to maintain a certain level of caution.

Players need to be aware that actions are what define us. If you are not a spy, don't act like a spy.  There comes a point when a preponderance of evidence, circumstantial or not forces leadership to act.

Or just have an open alliance that has nothing to hide. Not everybody wants to play 1984 in video games. I personally find spying to be distasteful (as has been debated on other threads), but there will always be slimy people who view it as part of the game.

Your play interests go in a different direction than others'. That does not mean you're a better person for it. That sort of egocentric view naturally limits your perspective.

Sure let's all have no secrets...lol

Being a basically transparent alliance limits the damage that spies can do. From that perspective, the strategy works, independent of ethical considerations.

You may consider it egocentric that I look down on spying in video games. So be it. But spying isn't a play style, it's a deliberate breach of trust among people who treat you as an online friend. The fact that it occurs in the context of a game just makes it more petty, because you are selling out a real human interaction (albeit online) for zero real gain. It's the equivalent of cheating at your weekly poker night with the guys. Can that happen? Yes. But from a social perspective it's bad form to cheat your buddies for a measly $10, and a little disturbing that it would make someone feel clever for getting away with it, in an atmosphere of trust and camaraderie.
