Topic: ILLYRIAD HALL OF FAME Posted: 04 Jul 2011 at 00:25 |
Below is an idea I have had for a while now I hope you are interested in it . If you are we can start the first round of nominations from next Friday at 6.00. In the meantimefeel free to make your comments/amendments on the idea and the draft rules set out below. (BTW I don"t mind if you choose some one else to run it instead of me).
ILLYRIAD HALL OF FAME
It is now time to establish a Hall of Fame where you, the community can nominate any player past or present to be inaugurated by sending a post giving 3 reasons why that player should be given the honour of immortal reverence.
Each week the best 5 will be placed in a poll and the winner of that poll will be considered for inauguration. However since it is a prestigious award the winner will have to have accrued 25 votes or more. Any less and they will be deemed as being worthy.
The Rules for nomination are
- No employee or agent, past or present, of the Illyriad games company may participate except where the rules of Illyriad prevail
- Each nominee will have to have a proposer and a seconder
- All other players , regardless of reputation, will be considered for nomination providing that they comply with rules 1 & 2. Players who are suspended will not be deemed eligible
- Nominations for a given week will close at 5.00pm on the Friday of that week
- In thevent of there being more than 5 nominees in any given week the the best 5 nominees for the poll will be chosen by the poll organiser.
Rules of Voting
- The poll will be conducted over 7 day period from 6.00pm on the day that nominations close.
- The winning candidate must also have been given a total of 25 votes or more for this pretsigous award.
- In all things the poll organisers word is final except where the Rukles of Illyriad apply.
I hope that this idea attracts the support of the community. Any sensible amendmnerts/suggestions are welcome.
ps The next idea after this is

I think it would be nice to do "categories" like, "the most helpful" "the most cheerful" "the most popular" etc... that way more people would appear and wont feel bad right xD? basically every user (and no alt allowed ¬¬) can vote one person per category, but cannot vote the same person in another category.
btw, i think the idea is good, but please dont let it go out of control xD

This is a good idea but the person who proposed would probably be the first one into the Dungeon of Infamy lol
I like it very much though and I think we should do it

I'm not much of a fan of popularity contests. Generally I think the people with the greatest GC/forum presence would win all these, but very often the players who have the most impact on the game do not garner lauding for themselves.
Although I could offer a special trophy with 2 cups on it and no base?

What I had in mind was a way of remembering playeres who have contributed so much to the game. Players like Shrapnel and maybe Noryasha Grunk. I am sure that members of most alliances can think of a player that they feel should get that level of recognition.
@ Celeb. Yeah you are probably right

Id rather you didnt.
I dont understand the need to praise some players and chastise others in public. If we ever want a gameworld thats dynamic and confrontational, we need to quit this strange urge the community has to impose the same perception on all players.
And yes essentially thats what all of this really is about, the award is just an excuse.
Let people make up their own minds about who to support and give out the praise you feel yourself - by message.
