When I look at the alliance rankings, for whatever they are worth, I see many of the top 20 alliances (in terms of land and pop), are not involved in this skirmish. What say you big alliances? Does the land claim bother you? Does the general growth, clustering, and confederation of these claiming alliances pose a threat to you in the future?
Did the claiming actually "out" some of these alliances as threats to be dealt with in the future due to their efficiency and organization in the game? Did you expect anything else from a group with LoU (Lord of Ultima) in their past that required such intense efficiency and organization to achieve an end game victory? How does that mentality continue to play out in Illyriad where there is no end game?
I probably should have saved this for an editorial piece in the Illy Times... I would be more likely to receive responses.

personally I believe the failure of stomp was the additional ability of having over ten cities in an account with no population decrease between nine and ten...no additional high population buildings were added.....a lot of us have a very strange building mix in our cities...we playing a very slanted game....also there have been no additional war functions and the ones in game were introduced when the game play was very different....few want to war cause of time involvement required...many players have adopted the wait to play mentality similar to the devs roll out
of promised functions....thanks to both sides and especially to pico in providing entertainment. Edited by twilights - 26 Jul 2015 at 16:38 |

Interestingly... I've been called out in GC for this post, as if I am trying to create a coalition to begin an offensive against the Land Claiming alliances. While I do oppose the idea of the land claim in its current form, I've mentioned elsewhere in the forums my points of concern, I have not extended or opened any private or public conversations to start a campaign of aggression.
The purpose of my response was to determine that which has been settled by the conflict and the STOMP surrender. Of course the alliances involved will have one opinion and those observing it all may have another. Who would you like to hear from on this matter? No offense to my friends in CAVE, T?, SITH, but these alliances, and likely MOON as well, aren't capable of doing any more than voicing an opinion on the matter.
If nothing is said, which may be all the wiser, then what has been determined is yet unknown and frankly tensions and opinions will continue to rise and flow... I guess that was in part the point of the Land Claim to encourage PvP in the BL as much as it was demarcate territory for planned growth of an alliance.

What actually HAS been gained or lost by this war between pro-land claimers and those against?? Land claimers are still claiming, alliances are still conversing about the "change " in the game.
MOON (including Wartow) are as justified in voicing an opinion as anyone in this game. Might I remind players that MOON has made their opinion on land claims clear on our alliance summary page.
Why can we not discuss?
Why can we not debate?
Why can we not put our opinions forward?
Why can we not ask questions?
We have as much right to voice an opinion as anyone in the Illy membership. We have no axe to grind with anyone and I believe that no alliance should have any axe to grind with us. SO please - take this as a conversation point and nothing else.
As an aside? i do believe that Wartow's comments are thought provoking and a little outside of the box - but that is Wartow and Wartow is awesome LOL

I think this war illustrated how effective a method of defense the clustering of an alliance is. While the members of SIN are excellent at warfare I think it would have been an entirely different battle had they been fighting an alliance that was also clustered in a land claim for defense. I did not take the time to look at the location of every city lost, but I think a majority of those that fell on both sides were outside of an area where the alliance could defend efficiently.
Many alliance profiles state that they are there to play peacefully but will defend themselves if need be. For those alliances I ask why would you not want to have a homeland cluster when it has proven to be an effective means of defense?
Personally, I like that Elgea doesn't have land claims, of all the battles and wars I have been in the most fun was when I got to fight Valar. We were interspersed with many of their members and the close proximity made it possible to wake up and find that you had been attacked or raided overnight. It kept you on your toes and was a lot of fun! It suits my person play style at this time but I will not force my preference on anyone else. There is room on the map for all kinds of play in the game.
