Topic: Has Illyriad met your expectations? Posted: 22 Oct 2012 at 17:26 |
So, you've been playing Illyriad for a while, maybe a couple of weeks, months, or years.
Compare
how you feel about Illyriad now, with
how you felt about Illyriad when you first started playing, after learning a tiny bit about it.
Does it give you what you expected, or more, or less?
p.s.
- I know that poll choices are skewed because any disappointed players are likely not to have seen this post.
- No, I don't work for the marketing department; I'm just curious.

I've been playing just over a month now. I like the trade and crafting aspects of the game. However, I find the quests and magic to be disappointing. The quests are repetitive and feeble, while the magic seems to offer very little reward for the effort it requires.

More or less my thoughts, this game has too many connected people, too many friends amongst friends. Therefor Friend A will not attack friend b even in a situation where A should attack B to protect friends C and D, because A and B are friends.
Illyville! Instead of growing crops, i can makez spears

Voted:
It's better than I expected, and I can engage with it;
Because:
- Permanent map means city placement, geography, diplomatic standings with neighbors, and now trading is better and more engaging than I expected.
- Troop Build times are lengthy, making battles much more important.
- However, I can imagine an improved game with path finding, faction quests, sov land structures (walls, roads, gates, bridges), robust magic system, and ships.

It would be great for there to be more territorial conflict. Hopefully AI factions will add more to that and give people a little more reason to fight one another. It's probably to o much to ask that player influenced conflicts have an actual impact on where the lines are drawn on the map.

I doubt there will be a significant improvement in territorial conflict when the AI factions go live, I foresee people allying w/ one major faction much like people going to Centurum. Those who go to the outer factions will risk execution, which of course is a reason for the conflict but w/ that in mind I very much doubt they will go to out factions and instead try to befriend major factions.
Since people are more commonly using the 0/0 hub for trade v2 instead of outer factions, that is what I'm basing my thoughts on.

if you ally with a faction that isnt liked by the faction close to you now thats a bad idea.. if the information we have gotten is correct still.

We will see won't we? I'm personally going to befriend the Blood Reavers or if for some reason its impossible for me to do so, engage in a war with them.
