Just wondering if we'd like to start taking bets on the Valar v. Alliance Coalition war.

What would you all like to bet on?

My suggestions:
End date of the war
When Curse overtakes Valar for the number 2 position (based on overall population)

This is just a poll to see if I should start taking wagers, so don't start betting!

If the majority vote is yes (or if i get some good other suggestions to bet on) I will start a new thread and will act as bookie (players will send me moneys and winner takes all, or closest). I am willing to hold wagers for multiple bets (on different categories).

I hope I didn't make this confusing...

For those that voted on "Depends on what we're betting on" I have decided to go with the end date of the war (when 'war' status goes away for Valar v. H?, Valar v. Curse, Valar v. Dlord, Valar v. Champ and Valar v. PA) and when Valar falls out of number 2 position (in alliance rankings based on total alliance population).

I will collect gold from players betting and will track their date and time, the closest person gets the pot.

Details will be posted in a new thread topic (probably tomorrow morning) barring an overwhelming vote of 'no' in the next few hours.

I never said they lost, but I don't anticipate them staying in number 2 position after this war is over. I expect more towns to be destroyed and players to leave the alliance.

Perhaps there should be some sort of upper limit on the dates, both to ensure that the contest eventually pays out and to account for the possibility that Valar might win OR that the war will never end ... like a date 6 months in the future?  Those betting on the end date would then presumably share the spoils if Valar retains the number 2 spot and/or the war lasts forever.

Just my suggestion, does not reflect my opinion on the probability of any of those things happening.

Can we in some way have a poll or a thread with a topic that does not lead up to another "current event" topic. It degrades itself over a period of time anyway, and in this point in time everyone knows everyone elses hopes and the odds of valar winning.

I plan on making a limit on this, there will be at least one winner in this (and not me for those jokesters!) There will also be set amounts to bet (more like an ante i guess) with different pots for players to get into.

Wait til tomorrow, when I put down the entry rules and payout information.

I just wanted to see how many people would be interested in making some money (or trying to), this wasn't a 'long-term poll' which is why it's titled 'feeler poll'. I wanted to take a quick poll to see the general attitude, to state things statistically: this was a sample group testing, not a population testing.

My comment was geared more towards eom and  rill, we must have 6 different threads discussing valar.

I'm fine with the betting, but not having yet another thread turned into the latest Gossip den.

Excellent idea, but it should not stop here. We may bet on many things in the game and as long as there is no real money involved it might be a lot of fun.
