Hello all

Artefore suggested to me that we made a thread about factions and share scouting and battle reports to gather more information on them.

As some of you may have noticed yesterday i had a nasty encounter with some trolls yesterday

Here is the scout report

Your diplomatic mission was undetected and completed the objective! Your units are on their way home, safe and sound.

the battle report

Two opposing forces clash against each other.

Cavalry comes into its own when able to strike hostile forces at will, and from unexpected directions - and nowhere is this more feasible than on open plains. Lightly armoured spear units, however, prefer terrain where there's some cover available.

Fighting defensively on open plains, cavalry draws strength from the ability to form and reform their lines of engagement depending on the direction of battle, and it is here where cavalry excels.

Attackers: Unit: Quantity: Casualties: Survivors:
Commander: marshal Marshals Marshal 1 Damaged for 200, 0 health remains.
Troops: Swiftsteeds Swiftsteeds 448 448 0
Commander: Swiftsteed Swiftsteeds Swiftsteed 1 Damaged for 100, 0 health remains.

Despite your troops' defeat, word reaches you concerning the defenders' forces in this battle.

Defenders: Unit: Quantity: Casualties: Survivors:
Troops: Trolls Trolls 201 130 71
Troops: Great Trolls Great Trolls 69 45 24
Troops: Young Trolls Young Trolls 239 156 83
Troops: Armoured Trolls Armoured Trolls 215 139 76
Trolls
Monstrous
Infantry
Bad-tempered and mean-spirited, trolls are always hungry and never friendly. The average troll is three times the size of a human, by weight, and three times as grumpy as any orc. In combat, trolls favour large clubs (generally a branch snapped from a tree) although they might also venture to try battering foes with their fists, small boulders, or the chewed corpses of those whom they have already killed. Many consider trolls to be too stupid to speak, and are surprised when they find that these creatures can launch into lengthy, imaginative tirades, stringing together obscenities and threats with a creativity that would impress an elven poet.

Great Trolls
Monstrous
Infantry
If the average Troll is three times the weight of a human, then the greatest among them are three times the size of an average Troll. It is of little comfort however, that much of their weight is flab. Armed with clubs made from tree-trunks, these lumbering creatures can pull a man an half with their bare hands.

Young Trolls

Juvenile Trolls are considered too frail to fight hand-to-hand in battle, so are pushed to the side to hurl rocks at enemies.

Armoured Trolls
Monstrous
Infantry
Getting armour to fit a ten-foot tall mound of muscle and blubber is not easy. Breastplates are bent into shape to make grieves, whole hides are stitched together to make hauberks. Halberds are repurposed as hand-axes, and doors, torn from their hinges, have straps fitted to make shields. The result is not pretty. But it can be devastating.

I hope you all will share some scout and battle reports so we will prepared when factions go live Smile

Ouch they're much stronger than the factions I've seen so far...
Can you post their stats too? Unfortunately when you copy-paste a scout or battle report you don't get the unit description along the unit icon.

Yeah - those guys look pretty good against cavalry being mostly infantry based.

Dark Thorns
Elven
Ranged
With sharp black or brown thorns sticking out of their skin, their appearance alone is enough to frighten those unfamiliar with these elves. The Dark Thorns carry several javelins and a small shield; excelling at attack, they throw javelins to create openings in enemy ranks as they close in, before using their last javelin as a spear to engage in close-quarters fighting.

Crimson Waves
Elven
Infantry
Adapting a common tool from jungle and agricultural use, these elves are armed with a machete and a small shield. These troops primarily guard trade caravans and their city, but they are also trained to work together in loose formation when engaging traditional army formations. If all else fails, they will not hesitate to use the sharp black or brown thorns sticking out of their skin as a weapon.

Hidden Cobras
Elven
Ranged
Modifying hunting tools and skills into specialised skills suited to stealthy attacks, these elves work in small numbers to take down guards or small outposts, using only their blowguns, throwing knives, and bolas. They wear no armour, but these elves usually strike before they're ever seen.

These elves ride small, nimble horses and carry a lance and mace. They can easily outmanoeuvre traditional army formations to strike at their weakest points; however, they remain vulnerable to arrows.

Cuirassiers

The Duchy of Keppen believes that its Cuirassiers, less encumbered and more flexible than traditional human Knights, have rendered their knightly forebears archaic. The rest of Illyria remains unconvinced.

Legionaries

Infantry
The backbone of the Empirium's armies is its Legions. Disciplined and highly-trained, they provide the bulk of the troops for all of the Empirium's major engagements.

Auxiliary Spearmen

Spearunit
For light duties, such as defending supply dumps, policing restless populations, and manning unimportant fortresses, the Empirium would not waste their valued Legions. In such cases, auxiliary troops, lightly armed, less professional soldiers on short contracts, are deployed.

Auxiliary Archers

As auxiliaries to their main legions, the Empirium recruits archers - lightly-armed and suitable for deployment in defence of towns, or to augment the Legions in battle.

Cavalry Scouts

Cavalry
The Empirium distrust the restless, fluid nature of cavalry troops, but will use lightly-armed troops to skirmish or raid into enemy territory. The Empirium dismissively calls these cavalry, Scouts. However, the troops are more capable in combat than their name would suggest, although they would rather leave heavy fighting to the Legions.

For the warriors of the Windseekers, to avoid danger is as important as the ability to fight well. Travelling close to the lands of the Melders and Harpies, they learn above all, to be careful.
