What are the requirements for researchhing militia? None, correct?

When I first played this game, I had no problem starting the military research tree and building my barracks. But when i created a second alternate account, it would not let me research militia. After completing the tutorial, I opened the research screen and the tech was there, in green, but it lacked the "research" button on the right side. No other tech had this problem, and when I looked in my library under the available research, it listed a few of the military techs (saying "requires barracks" on the side) but no militia. Is there anything I'm doing wrong? Are there any requirements I missed?

In the research tree Green is Researched; which suggests you already researched militia?
