Like a number of players I know, I keep a spreadsheet on google docs indicating what building projects (and demolitions) I have scheduled for each city.

I think it would be cool if there were a notepad function in each city, perhaps accessible through the castle, that would allow a player to make notes about what is happening in the city, what is planned next, so we wouldn't need to refer to these outside tools as much.

An overall notepad rather than one for each city could work, but one per city would be best, I think

This isn't a big change, but it would improve my gameplay experience.  I suppose it could end up requiring a good bit of storage space; maybe there should be a 140 character limit?

Thanks!

Edited to clarify that I use an online program (google docs) for my spreadsheet.

FWIW, they recently increased the size limit for player profiles, as the result of a petition.  Hopefully by more than 140 characters, I didn't test the details... LOL

Just adding some private space with the same editor as for public profiles and IGMs could do the trick.  Private space per town could be already more than five minutes and border on  soon™.

I think such an improvement is not necessary in-game.
  1. We don't want our devs re-inventing wheels, where existing tools would do the job better (no offense intended).
  2. Most players will be able to use a free spreadsheet or notepad app, perhaps one that works online anywhere, from any device.
  3. Having your notes tucked away on an Illy page will prove to be less accessible than if you ran another app alongside.

Albatross, I already use a google docs spreadsheet I can open in another tab.  My laptop doesn't like it if I have too many tabs open at the same time.  While it might not be true for every player, for me it would be easier to have a notes space available in-game.

I should not have said I have a spreadsheet "offline" when I meant that I have one in a separate app; sorry for the confusion.

I can understand the added convenience you are asking for, but the cost would be rather steep (server resources).  I'm not sure the ROI would be worth it, when there's other stuff they could do to make the game better - mail to more than 1 person for example...
