Please make it clearer to tell if you are in AC or GC somehow, just changing the color of the tab you are on would probably do it.  I'm ashamed to say I've logged on to Illy before and seen people from my alliance chatting and would start talking like I'm in AC until I notice lol.  Only happened a few times but still...I think it would be a nice feature.

It does say "Alliance Chat" and "Global Chat on top of each, as appropriate.  You can also change the size of the two windows, if that would help?

There is a way how to do it...

For example for Firefox you can create file "userContent.css" in your profile directory.
It is same directory where "userContent-example.css" is (%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[profile name]\)

for me something like: C:\Users\...\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<something>.default\chrome\

When I put in that userContent.css file this: 

div.globalChat > div:nth-child(2n)
              

               {
              

              

                   background-color: rgba(150, 150, 255, 0.5) !important;
              

              

               }
              

              

               

              

              

               div.globalChat > div:nth-child(2n+1)
              

              

               {
              

              

                   background-color: rgba(200, 200, 255, 0.5) !important;
              

              

               }
