something that has always bothered me since the start of v2 is the long camp time of armies...i mean 15 days???really????...you see so many rare minerals and herbs with the same players camping armies on the locations and no miners, no gatherers, no nothing with little effort from the players placing these armies there...often the accounts doing this are controlled by major players...why does the game continue to promote this sort of slacker play? why does the game not give more of an advantage to the active player? we need more active players and should encourage them to play...maybe its time for the devs to make some changes to bring that type of player to the game and this is one function to change to allow an advantage to the active player...what are others thoughts?

I used to play this game for the NES called "
Nobunaga's Ambition," which was slightly like Illyriad. When you fielded an army, you had to also equip it with food. If the army ran out of food in the field, it came home. And thieves from the other side could steal the food, cutting the campaign's duration short.
Perhaps a similar game mechanic could be used to make long encampments more costly. If there was some kind of requirement to attach food relative to the size of the army and the duration of the occupation, it could maybe mitigate the relative ease of setting a 15-day occupy time.

supply as a concept is conspicuously missing from illyriad's war mechanic. imo, the oversight has had a profound effect on the development of the game.
stealing food from armies in the field would also be an excellent way to add back some utility to diplomatic units made nearly obsolete by the introduction of trade hubs. |

last few weeks, maybe even months i've seen a lot of posts made by twilights where he/she continues to complain about the slow pace of the game, the fact that players don't have to log in every hour to keep their towns going etc.
I don't know, but that's the best part of this game in my opinion. I hate games where you lost half of what you build when your incapable of loging in for a week. I like the fact that I can occupy a mine for harvesting purpose, and still have the oportunity to do so after 14 days, even if i couldn't get in the game due to personal circumstances (work/family affairs/jail/whatever). Illyriad has always been this way and that's what most of us who stayed probably like about it. Twiligths, if you really don't like those things, why on earth do you keep spending so much time on (a forum about) this game? To me it seems you better go look for a game that suits your favors a bit better. |

I don't like the fact that people can occupy a mine if they are not going to mine it, but that is part of the game, and I don't think the devs should change that part. Let the players near that mine handle the matter themselves with their own military if they want to.
But I really like the idea of an army having to bring its supplies with it, and aborting the mission if those supplies are lost. That combined with a way to make the supplies be taken (perhaps thieves) is a great idea. |

Perhaps there could be a revision to the Raid tactic, as it is currently very specialized.
